What a great start to the week to have so many people brave the drizzle to walk the Jingle Bell Walk, and then gather in the park for a wonderful concert by the high school band and choir, and then see the lighting of the tree!! There must have been over 100 people there. It was a great move to have the businesses stay open afterward. Kudos to the planning committee!!

Community Forum/Discussion:: Community Meeting
Hi Tamara,
The county's planning commission voted against the zoning change that would allow the quarry, but that was an advisory vote basically so now the matter goes to the county commissioners for the decision. The date for that was pushed back to Nov. 10 and is to be held in a bigger venue than the courthouse. The ProtectGrandIsland.com website says "Wednesday, November 10 is the big day when our Yamhill County Commissioners will hear public testimony on the quarry application (and possibly make their decision)! The hearing is currently scheduled to begin at 1 pm at the McMinnville Community Center (600 NE Evans St, McMinnville, OR 97128)."

I would add that there is an outpouring of support for doing more to uplift our downtown, and City Council had standing room only recently as a result. Its been a long time since there was so much interest in our city governance. We the People!
