The wife and I returned home yesterday from a camping 'n fishing excursion to Eastern Oregon to discover that the house across from us had been painted an "orange" color, in big contrast to the rest of the sub-division that is all in "neutral" colors. Anyone know of any city ordinance that would address this issue?

Don, to my knowledge there is no city ord. that addresses your concern. The city website and municipal codes are here: http://www.ci.dayton.or.us/index.asp?Type=B_LIST&SEC={41E89146-816A-41ED-9C43-8A51FCBE7B32}
As you may know, many communities keep some degree of uniformity (while allowing individual choice) through homeowner associations. But this is not the case where you live. Perhaps the best way to prevent eyesores re. paint and other aesthetic issues is for neighbors to get to know each other well enough that they consider the reaction of others prior to making changes. There should be a balance between individual right to paint one's home and a reasonable consideration of the general aesthetic of the rest of the street. Good luck.

Thanks for your input Mr. Collins. Perhaps it is an issue that the City Council should take up?

Hi Don, City Council meets the first monday of the month (i.e. tomorrow 8/2). Public comment and requests for action are at the beginning of the meeting. When you arrive to City Annex Bldg about 6:30 pm, you need to sign in on the "I'd like to speak" sheet. I hope this helps!

I appreciate the input John and Judy. We will try to be present at the October City Council meeting.
