“Friday Nights” Kicks Off on May 23rd in Downtown Dayton, Oregon

Dayton Friday NightsFriday nights in Dayton, Oregon are set to get a lot more exciting this summer, as the Dayton Community Development Association (DCDA) announces the launch of “Friday Nights”. Every Friday between Memorial Day and Labor Day, Downtown Dayton will come alive with family-friendly activities in the town’s historic square and local businesses will feature dining specials, cruise-ins, and more.

Every Friday Night between Memorial Day and Labor Day between 5 pm and 9 pm, downtown Dayton will come alive as businesses and local vendors offer exciting summertime specials, live music and fun activities around the historic town square. Presented by the Dayton Community Development Association (DCDA) and the downtown business community, with support from the City of Dayton, the “Friday Nights” events will kick off on May 23rd with a classic car cruise-in, children’s activities and a family-friendly atmosphere.

Throughout the summer, local businesses will offer special activities to entertain locals and visitors alike. Classic cars and unique vehicles of all kinds will line Dayton’s Fourth Street on Friday nights from 5 pm to 9 pm as Archie’s Ice Cream and Eatery hosts a free “cruise-in”. Another local business, Dayton Electric & Lighting, will offer a free drop-in art activity and balloons for families with children from 5 pm to 8 pm in the historic town square, close to the playground.
Restaurants and businesses on Dayton’s Ferry Street will offer specials and extended opening hours until at least 8 pm. Participating businesses at press time include Seufert Winery, The Barlow Room Restaurant & Bar, The Block House Cafe and Lupita’s Mexican Food.

2013 Scarecrow Contest

The 2013 Dayton Community Development Association Scarecrow Contest was a great success! At least 30 individuals individuals, groups, businesses and families made a one-of-a-kind scarecrow for the contest in downtown Dayton. Thank you to all our wonderful participants and judges, and especially to our fabulous sponsors! (Western Ag Improvement, The Joel Palmer House Restaurant, Heiser Farms, Sokol Blosser Winery, Wilco Farm Store, & Country Heritage Farms.)

Harvest Festival Scarecrow Contest

Exercise your creativity this year for the chance to win cash prizes! The Dayton Community Development Association invites individuals, groups, businesses and families to make a one-of-a-kind scarecrow for the Harvest Festival, to be exhibited on Sept. 7th in downtown Dayton. The contest is open to all ages. The first, second, and third winners in each of four categories will win cash prizes, while “Best in Show” wins a dinner for two at the Joel Palmer House Restaurant. For contest rules and more details, download the entry form: 2013 Scarecrow Contest Application. The deadline to submit the entry form is August 31st.
